COMPARATIVE ESTIMATION OF PERIPHERAL NERVOUS TRUNKS AND PLEXUS REGIONAL ANESTHESIA EFFICACY AND SAFETY

Objectives. To compare the results of regional anesthesia using various methods of identification of the peripheral nerves and plexuses.
Methods. The result analysis of anesthesia at surgeries on the upper and lower limbs was performed. 1105 blocks were done in 762 patients. Depending on the technique of the peripheral block performing the patients were divided into groups. The first group the identification of the needle position was done after obtaining paresthesias, 572 blocks in 395 patients were carried out; in the second group 164 blocks in 110 patients using electrostimulator to find the nerves were performed; in the third group 369 blocks in 257 patients with ultrasound visualization were done.
Results. Ultrasound visualization of the peripheral nervous trunks, plexuses and the needle on carrying out the peripheral block permitted to increase the anesthesia safety, to exclude the complications and to eliminate “the effect of presence” of a patient in the operative theatre.
Conclusions. Ultrasound visualization 100% increased the efficacy of the peripheral blocks.
