PRESENT-DAY SONOGRAPHY POSSIBILITIES IN DIAGNOSTICS OF HIP JOINT PATHOLOGY
The possibilities of ultrasonography in the diagnostics of the hip joint pathology in adults were studied. 26 patients at the age of 37-65 years were examined, 6 of them had arthritis of the hip joint, 15 – dysplastic coxarthrosis, 5 – posttraumatic arthrosis. Totally 108 sonograms were performed. While performing sonograms the bone contours of the articular surfaces and hip neck (continuity, osteophytes occurrence), the articular cartilage (thickness, structure), the joint capsule (thickness, structure), the presence and character of effusion in the joint cavity (homogeneity, echodensity) were investigated and evaluated in all cases.
Ultrasound of the hip joint at deforming osteoarthrosis and arthritis has rather high informative value; it is non-invasive, available, and economical. It gives possibility to visualize soft tissue components of the joint, to determine early pathological changes at arthrosis and arthritis, to perform repeated investigations during he disease process.
